About this therapy

Postpartum Ayurvedic massage, traditionally called Sutika Abhyanga, is a structured system of therapeutic massage given to a new mother after childbirth. It is part of the Ayurvedic postpartum care system (Sutika Paricharya), designed to support the mother’s physical recovery, hormone regulation, emotional stability, and long-term health.

In Ayurveda, childbirth is considered a major Vata-disturbing event. Vata dosha governs the nervous system, movement, and bodily functions—and childbirth involves loss of fluids, energy, and physical strain, all of which elevate Vata.

The massage, combined with warm oils and postpartum routines, works to restore balance, strengthen tissues, and promote deep rest.
